How to Start Investing in Stocks

Choose a Stock Broker:

Online stock brokers are more popular than ever before. You have complete control of your money and investments, and transactions are quick. There are several online stock brokers, but here are the 3 that I believe are most popular:

1. E*Trade
2. ShareBuilder
3. TD Ameritrade

I personally use E*Trade and ShareBuilder.

I Have a Stock Broker, Now What?

Learn All You Possibly Can About the Stock Market:

The column on the left contains subjects to get started on. All of the information on this website can be explored in greater detail by purchasing the very inexpensive books written by the greatest stock investors of all time. A list of the best books and links to buy them are located under the "All Resources" tab at the top of this page. Your initial investment into these books will serve you very well over the course of your life as an individual investor. Education is the best and most important investment you will ever make.

Something To Remember

Never Invest in Stocks Before You Educate Yourself on the Market:

This is a sure way to lose money. You wouldn't try out for a baseball team if you don't know how to play baseball, so why jump into the stock market if you don't know how to invest? So many people learn the hard way by losing thousands of dollars, but you don't have to. Trust me when I say books are the best investment - if you don't believe me now then you will believe me once you lose money in the market. I understand if you don't want to swallow your pride and read books when you think you "know your stuff," but what if swallowing your pride and reading books could send you on your way to financial freedom? Would you swallow your pride to make a fortune? I thought so ;)

My 2 favorite books are featured on the left, the rest are listed under the "All Resources" tab at the top of this page. Best of luck, and happy investing!
